Scary Holes on Earth


The amount of earth removed by workers is estimated to total 22.5 million tonnes.

Extraction began in 1863 and still continues today, the pit increasing in size constantly.
In its current state the hole is 3/4 mile deep and 2.5 miles wide.

There are numerous blue holes around the world but none as stunning as this one.

Obviously the hole is a huge hit with divers.




This is probably the largest sinkhole in the world, it was cracked open in February 2007 in northeast of Guatemala city. It is over 300 ft. deep and it had already killed 3 people also caused thousands to evacuate the city.

This hole is known as Chuquicamata which was an open pit copper mine. It is not the largest copper pit in the world, but it did produces the most copper. This holeĀ is in Chile and it is 850 meters or 2788 feet deep.

This is Mirny Diamnd mine, in Siberia, Russia. It was the largest diamond pipe in the USSR. This pit is now abandoned, back then when it was operatimg, it would takes about 2 hours for trucks to reach the bottom of the pitĀ because it is 1722 feet deep.
